This is an adaptation in katharevousa an essay by Dimitrios Kat. In his introductory note, N. Logades notes that he worked on an anonymous manuscript, titled Ἐγκώμιον τοῦ Φιλοσόφου Μακαρισμὸς τοῦ Ὀρθοδόξου· Ψόγος τοῦ Ἀθέου, Ταλάνισμα τοῦ Δεισιδαίμων [Praise of the Philosopher, Envy of the Orthodox, Condamnation of the Atheist], which he had possessed since 1794.
